Hair static can happen easily in a dry winter climate. So how can you avoid getting hair static in this kind of environment?

Static can not only destroy our well-maintained hairstyle while adsorbing ash and acarids, static also pulls our hair down to the facial skin and makes our skin dirty. Hair static will happen the most in the wintertime because of:

1) Dry hair;

2) Dry climate;

3) Friction between hair and clothes, and improper hair washing and caring methods.

To treat and get rid of hair static, you need to fix your dry hair first. Use shampoo that has humidity-keeping functions in it. Wash your hair with this shampoo 3-7 times per week per your hair quality. (Washing your hair too much is also not good, so please take reference with ‘how to wash your hair correctly’ first).

By doing this, you can not only keep your hair clean, but you will also reduce the negative impact on your facial skin by cleaning that dirty hair. It can also greatly reduce hair static caused by hair friction. But if your scalp is usually producing more sebum, this is a hint that it is not very suitable for you.

Long hair is more likely going to get static due to the friction it has with clothes, and also getting blown around in the cold dry wind and being touched by people’s hands. So it is a good idea to bundle up your long hair. Do not use plastic or metal hair combs and brushes either; avoid wearing low quality ‘static-friendly’ chemical fiber-made clothes (or using the detergents with anti-static function). You can also form a habit of using your hand or a comb to massage your scalp during your spare time. This can improve your scalp’s blood circulation and increase your hair’s thickness and toughness, which will result in a reduction of hair static.

In addition, an indoor environment is also very important to manage by keeping it at a certain humidity from purling the floor or using a humidifier. Choose clothes, sheets, or quilt covers made of pure cotton or silk.
